Values, Mission and Vision

Our mission is to joyfully invest in relationships to spark a life-journey with Jesus.

We envision a Gospel-Shaped, Disciple-Making, City-Blessing Church emerging from the campus community and extending through the city.

Origin’s values inform how we worship, fellowship, minister, disciple, evangelize, and steward God’s grace as we follow Jesus. Many of the decisions we make will be grounded in these values.

  • Integrity: We believe trust grows in community as people experience unity between the message of the Gospel of Jesus and its messengers. God’s Word is the authoritative and true word for our lives therefore we will seek to understand and apply it in our context through transformational teaching. (Hebrews 4:12-13,
    2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • Authenticity: We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ ushers people into the grace of God and frees us from the compulsion to hide from God and each other. We will seek to be appropriately open and honest about our lives in order to experience the Gospel together in organized congregational settings. (Romans 12:9, Matthew 22:37-40)

  • Humility: We believe arrogance has no place in the experience of salvation. Many of the blessings we enjoy have nothing to do with our own achievements or wisdom. God’s grace has ushered us into a position for which we cannot boast. We will seek to be Christ-centered, humble, genuinely interested and active in the needs of others, and  able to serve from our weakness. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Philippians 2:5-11)

  • Excellence: We believe God is worthy of and honoured by a devoted life. We will honour Him by serving people well and inspiring the hopeful and disciplined pursuit of Jesus Christ in all we create or do as a church. (Matthew 5:13-16, Colossians 3:17)

  • Generosity: We believe we are most like Jesus Christ when we give. He has called us to give our lives away sacrificially as citizens of the Kingdom of God in order to seek the lost and to lift up the hurting. (Luke 15:1-16:15, Matthew 10:8)

  • Leadership: We believe God gifts both men and women for leadership in His Kingdom and in His church. We will equip and empower leaders according to their character and giftedness for the ministry of the Church and for Jesus’ Gospel mission wherever they live, work, and play. (Luke 6:12-16, Romans 12:7-8, Acts 6:1-7)

  • Sustainability: We believe The Holy Spirit sustains Jesus’ church and His servants. We will persistently seek the direction and renewal of the Holy Spirit individually and corporately so that we steward the resources God provides us well.  (Ephesians 5:15-18, 2 Corinthians 4:16)

  • Multiplication: We believe disciples of Jesus are to reproduce disciples and develop leaders competent to lead local gatherings of believers as Jesus’ Church. May we never be the last link in the chain of God’s grace through Jesus Christ ‘till He returns. We will seek to remove our human barriers to the reproductive nature of the Kingdom of God. We will joyfully invest in relationships to spark a life-journey with Jesus. (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 4:1-20, 2 Timothy 2:2)
